Quinoa

is a mature seed of the species CHENOPODIUM QUINOA, which belongs to the Chenopodioideae subfamily of the amaranthaceae. This seed comes in different colors, but the most common are the black, red and white.

A high protein grain alternative. A 2009 study at the University of Chile found that 15 percent of the total content of quinoa is protein, more than double the amount found in most standard grains. An anti-aging miracle. The University degli Studi di Foggia in Italy recently released the findings of a 2012 study on the antioxidative abilities of quinoa. The researchers concluded that quinoa is an excellent source of free phenols, which destroy free radicals in the bloodstream. As a result, quinoa can help slow down the aging process, decrease the risk of cancer and delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
